Partnership

The success of the project "Promotion of volunteering in providing first aid in emergency situations" is possible thanks to the strong collaboration and active involvement of several international organizations. The diverse and well-structured partnership brings together experts and resources from Romania, Cyprus and Italy, with the common goal of improving emergency response capacity and promoting volunteering in this field.
The project coordinator, the Bucharest Rescue Society Association, Romania, has put together a strong team with four reliable international partners: the Celiz International Center from Romania, the Cyprus Ambulance Service, Rivensco Consulting from Cyprus and Igor Vitale International from Italy. Together, these organizations are pooling their efforts and expertise to develop effective initiatives, training programmes and information campaigns aimed at increasing the number of well-trained volunteers who are aware of the importance of first aid.
This transnational and cross-sectoral collaboration brings together organizations with different experiences and perspectives, facilitating the exchange of best practices and generating innovative solutions to emergency challenges. Together, we aim to create an effective and sustainable support network for communities, ensuring a prompt and competent response to crisis situations.

Asociația Societatea de Salvare București

The "Bucharest Rescue Society" is a young organization. Established in 2009, it continues the tradition of the original Bucharest Rescue Society, founded by Professor Nicolae Minovici in 1906. Its mission is to promote pre-hospital emergency medicine, as well as to develop and implement professional standards and operational protocols for pre-hospital emergency activities, with the aim of improving the quality of services provided. The association supports the Ambulance Service through its offered services. To achieve its mission, the association has set the following objectives:

- Promote opportunities for personal and professional development for its members and all interested parties through training centers.
- Foster dialogue and exchange of experiences among professionals in the field.
- Introduce and promote the latest principles and training techniques in pre-hospital emergency medicine in Romania.
- Promote the profession of trainer.
- Develop and implement professional and organizational strategies and standards in pre-hospital emergency medicine.
- Protect the structures and professional categories involved in pre-hospital emergency medical care.
- Promote first aid techniques among the general population.

The association advocates for the support of life-saving activities and strongly promotes volunteerism. It has over 1,800 registered and active volunteers, engaged in both the ambulance volunteer program and the "There Is a Hero in Each of Us" program.

CELIZ INTERNAȚIONAL CENTER

The International CELIZ Center is a research and training center in the socio-human field that promotes lifelong learning and skill enhancement, providing educational resources and a variety of training courses. CELIZ's mission is to help adults improve their skills and knowledge through training and educational programs, increasing their chances of obtaining or retaining employment or enhancing their performance. We offer a wide range of courses and training programs, including communication skills, stress management courses, and many more. These courses are designed to be flexible and customizable, catering to the needs and experience levels of each participant. We have collaborated with a variety of organizations and companies to deliver customized training programs tailored to the specific needs of each organization.

CELIZ aims to develop individuals' skills and competencies across various fields, such as emergency management, volunteerism, skill-building, and psychosocial education. A significant component of the organization focuses on stress management and effective communication, which are essential for the smooth operation of the emergency response system.

Ambulance Services Directorate of the State Health Services - Cyprus

The Ambulance Services Directorate of the State Health Services Organization is a leading body within the healthcare system in Cyprus, playing a critical role on the front line of continuous medical care. It responds to medical emergencies and accidents, providing "treat and transport" services for patients.

The Cyprus Ambulance Service operates by answering 112 emergency calls from the public, urgent calls from healthcare professionals, and offers non-emergency patient transportation services (for patients with prior bookings to and from medical facilities). It is available to all individuals who are seriously ill or severely injured and is responsible for pre-hospital emergency medical care, most non-emergency patient transportation across Cyprus, including telephone triage, dispatch, and communication activities that support emergency operations.

The Cyprus Ambulance Service is staffed by 350 individuals along with a small number of volunteers. Its responsibilities are extensive and include:

- Saving lives and alleviating suffering.
- Improving the quality of life by providing accessible and high-quality patient transport and care services.
- Promptly responding to requests for help in medical emergencies.
- Delivering specialized medical skills to sustain life and minimize injuries during emergencies and while transporting individuals who require these skills.
- Providing specialized transport facilities for moving individuals needing urgent medical treatment.
- Offering services that require specialized medical or transport skills.
- Promoting public education on first aid.
- Planning for and responding to major emergencies.
- Managing the search and rescue unit/SMURD intervention.

Through these responsibilities, the Cyprus Ambulance Service strives to maintain a high standard of emergency and patient care across the region.
